Before you start supervising your learner

supervisor

We can provide you with information on how young drivers think, your role as a supervisor and the importance of supervised driving experiences.

Taking on the role of supervising a learner driver is a big responsibility and at times, it can be stressful.

This section will ensure you and your learner are confident and prepared thoughout this time.

Important.

If you are going to supervise a learner, first make sure your insurance policy will cover your learner driver. Some policies have exclusions such as 'named driver' or 'over 25s'. Not all policies are the same, check with your insurance company.

Four things to remember;

  • Your learner must always have their permit with them when driving.
  • Your learner can not exceed 100km/h
  • Learner drivers are not allowed to drive in Kings Park, Perth at all
  • Learners in Phase 1 are not allowed on the Freeways (they can drive on highways such as Tonkin or Roe)
